Can I use a check, credit card, or debit card to buy lottery tickets from a retailer?
Yes, if the merchant permits it. Retailers are allowed to accept coin, checks, money orders, and cash for the payment of lottery tickets under Minnesota Rule 7856.4010, subpart 16.Additionally, since using a debit card or credit card is the same as using a check, using those cards is allowed. Although it's possible, a lottery retailer is not mandated to accept checks or check cards as payment for lottery tickets.
Is it possible for citizens of other nations to buy Minnesota State Lottery tickets?
Yes, foreign nationals (or any other person who isn't a Minnesotan and is of legal age) may participate in our lottery. All participants, however, are required to buy their tickets in person from a Minnesota-based authorized Lottery retailer.
